Spring Cleaning: The Jimdo Hackathon

We're excited to announce the wrap up of yet another successful Jimdo Hackathon. This has become a recurring time of year when we get to temporarily break from our major ongoing projects and focus on tackling other necessary improvements.

Holed up at Jimdo headquarters in Hamburg, the Jimdo developers have been hard at work for the past few weeks doing a bit of spring cleaning. Fortunately, more than just organized closets and that infectious scent of Pine-Sol, the fruits of their labor come in the form of new features for you, our loyal users! Here are some of the improvements:

Copy Elements and Pages

Ask and you shall receive. We've added a shiny new Copy button to all elements on your JimdoPage. Need to duplicate a complicated form element or photo gallery on your website? Simply hover over it and click Copy. Now there's two! Keep it where it's at or move it to another page using the clipboard. It's up to you!

JimdoPro and JimdoBusiness users can now copy entire pages as well. If you've ever found yourself needing to create lots of similar pages, now you can build out the parts that are the same on one page and duplicate it with the click of a button.

New Styles for Blog Date Stamps

Jimdo bloggers have been glaring at that standard blue date stamp for awhile now, wishing in vain that it had more style. Now, as if before their very eyes, the date stamp has been given a much needed makeover. You can choose from 10 different styles, unlimited colors, and a variety of date formats. Go ahead, style it up. Want to include the day of the week or the year? You can do that too. No more excuses. Blogs away!

New Fonts for JimdoPro and JimdoBusiness

Consistency in web design is important, but so is having design options. We know you've been dying to break out of that Arial or Times New Roman box we've inadvertently put you in, and now you can. With 15 new fonts to choose from, your desired typographical style has never been more achievable.

Test out all the new fonts by clicking on Style in the Site Admin panel. Whether you're looking for something clean like Josephin Sans or something playful like Shadows Into Light, we're positive you'll find a font that suits you.

I really appreciate Jimdo stuff's making big effort. I'm using two jimdo business as I need web sites both in Japanese & English. I've been trying to share information for people who need it, with my poor English ablility. Jimdo stuff's sincere effort is a big help. Thank You!

As always, Jimdo makes committing to their platform for the long haul well worth it. We're in all the way. Great job, guys. We (and our clients) love everything you offer. Keep pushing the envelope and we'll keep setting up Jimdo sites. :)

Congratulation for the wrap up of another successful Jimdo Hackathon. Heads up to your developers for the improvements they brought in these sections. The enhancement made to Copy Elements and Pages is really great and it’s really easing the operation. Other changes and improvements are equally great.

I would really love to see multiple drop down menus for the online store. For example, to allow for size AND color variations. Please programmers, help us out! Thank you ahead of time.

I must echo T's comment, multiple drop down menus for the online store would be much appreciated. I found a work-around using "Forms", but it leaves a "Send" button confuses the issue.
