Jimdo Now Supports .co.uk Domains!

Calling England: Does the World Wide Web ever seem a little too wide? Would you like your website to feel a little bit more local? Now you can register your domain as www.your-name.co.uk and have it sounding as British as a cup of tea with a jammie dodger!

From now on, when you sign up for JimdoBusiness or JimdoPro you can select a domain name with a .co.uk address included in the package price. Of course, if you prefer a .com or .net domain, no worries: we have those on hand, too.

Here's how to get a .co.uk domain

If you have a JimdoFree site...

First you'll have to upgrade to a paid plan. Upgrading removes the Jimdo ad box and includes loads of extra features, including a free domain (two for Business).

Once you've decided to go with JimdoPro or JimdoBusiness, you can register a domain during the sign-up process.

I want to upgrade and get a .co.uk domain!

If you have JimdoPro or JimdoBusiness...

Congratulations, you've made the right decision.

If you already have a domain registered on Jimdo, you can order another one by logging into your website and clicking on the Upgrade button on the right.

If not, click Upgrade to register your domain gratis.

What if I already have my own domain name?

That's fine! You can whether you prefer to transfer the domain name to Jimdo free of charge or to redirect it to your Jimdo site and keep it registered somewhere else.

What if I want a .ie, .com.au, or a different domain?

The sky's the limit with domains - there's no end to the options available. If you want a domain we currently don't provide, you can always order it from our partner Hover or a provider of your choice and redirect it to your Jimdo site!

Cheers!

    Mr Lucas (Tuesday, 17 July 2012 12:00)

    Hello there,

I currently have a .com domain name as I currently live in Perth, Western Australia, that might be changing soon to the UK. Can you let me know how I can get this co.uk domain added on, so at least it will be running prior to my returning home.

    kind regards

    Hi Lucas,

Nice to hear you're considering relocating. If you want to order a second domain (you've already got one, haven't you), all you have to do is log into your website and click on the "Upgrade" button on the right, then on "Add-ons". Now you can pick a domain name like www.lucaswarrenphotography.co.uk and register it.

You can still keep the old domain name and have it "pointed" at your new domain. I strongly suggest you do this so you don't lose search engine placement! Good luck!
