We’ve made some improvements to your Jimdo store that make product information clearly visible to customers before they complete a purchase. The details of all the changes are described below. If you have any questions, ask us in the comments!
The changes apply primarily to how information is presented on the order summary page – before your customers complete the order process. In the updated order process, product information, pricing, shipping costs, and tax are now highlighted by a gray background. This design change may adversely affect the appearance of your store if you are currently using a custom layout.
Please check if you need to make any updates to your code to accommodate the changes to the checkout page.
The Buy button is now positioned directly below the order summary, and we have added a customizable text label for the button. Whatever you choose to put there, it should clearly communicate the purchase will be finalized by clicking the button.
Links to the terms of service and return policy are now visible at the top of the checkout page. There is also a checkbox your customers must click to indicate that they have reviewed these documents. This has been a frequently requested option.
Located directly below that section is the billing and shipping address information as well as the selected payment method.
The update also adds a text field for a short product description to all Store Item elements. This is where you should include a basic description of the product or service.
Please note: These descriptions will be displayed to customers only in the final step of the order process and are intended to remind customers exactly what they are purchasing. This information is not displayed in the regular store item element.
You can activate the new order process immediately from your store settings. After activiating the new process, we recommend conducting a subsequent test purchase. You have been able to activate the new order process since August 1, 2012,, and on October 1, 2012, we will automatically update all stores with the new order process.
