Got Pinterest? Sharing Images Made Simpler

We've just launched a Pinterest Pin It button for the photos on your Jimdo site. Now it's easier than ever to share photos on JimdoPages.

Great Pictures Love Company

A picture is worth a thousand words, but only if other people see it. But you know that already. Which is why you have Facebook and Twitter share buttons on your website, to make it easy for people to pass along your interesting content to their virtual friends. Web-savvy as you are, you've probably already added a Pinterest button, too. Right?

Wait. Pinterest?

Pinterest is an image-sharing network new to the world of social sharing. But what it lacks in history, it more than makes up for in acceleration. The difference between Pinterest and other social sharing websites is its image-first focus. Users post photos and videos, and other people can re-pin them or like them. There is a description area underneath, but with Pinterest, it's the image that counts.

Jimdo + Pinterest

Now when you add a new Photo, Text with Photo, or Photo Gallery element to a JimdoPage, just click on the Pinterest box to enable pinning. It looks like the picture to the right. Then, when your visitors want to Pin one of your photos, they'll see a Pin It button appear when they hover over that photo on your website.

Depending on your website (and business), Pinterest could either be a godsend or rather unimportant. Online store owners with cool products could definitely capitalize on the pinning trend. Photographers, illustrators, and anyone who makes pretty things will benefit more from pinning than, say, a tax advisor.

We've got a bit of a start-up crush on Pinterest at the moment, so we cancertainly understand the hype. We even started creating a few Jimdo Pinterest boards. Check us out and feel free to re-pin or follow us, we don't mind. Also let us know if you have cool stuff on Pinterest that you want to share, as we love discovering new images!

Cool! I have been waiting for this one. You state "Online store owners with cool products could definitely capitalize on the pinning trend" but I couldn't get it to work on the photos for items in the catalog. ??

Good point, Tom. The Pinterest feature can't be activated for store items, but if you have other regular Photo elements on the same page as your store item, you can activate it for those. In fact, we recommend putting each of your store items on its own page, that way you can add Share Buttons and now the Pinterest feature for each of them!

This is a great tool, haven't use it yet but it seems like a great ally for designers!

Hi Raymond! The Pinterest feature isn't available for the Flash Photo Gallery slideshow. You would need to switch to the regular HTML gallery mode if you wanted to allow your visitors to pin those photos.

Thanks Kurt. I have all the regular photos pinned. Would it be practical to have a separate page for each item having over 800 items?

PInterest has been gaining a lot of followers. It's great for sites with a lot of images esp. photographers' websites.
