Who's behind Jimdo?

Christian, Fridtjof, and Matthias are the founders of Jimdo. But they're not the whole story. We are really proud of the whole team - it's awesome to work on Jimdo with all these folks.

What is Jimdo's story?

In 2004 we founded NorthClick (the precursor to Jimdo) on an old farmhouse in northern Germany. We moved in to Fridtjof's without a cent and developed the online software that now is the core of Jimdo.

Shortly after founding the company, we won a business plan competition, which gave us around $20,000. That, combined with some early agreements and our first customers gave us enough money to move to Hamburg and rent our first office. Since that time, we've steadily expanded, moving into a bigger office and working with a steadily increasing number of customers and team members!

Over time, more and more of our friends asked us whether they could use our system for personal sites. We were really excited by the cool sites they created! Some used the system for pages about themselves, three guys used it to document their sailing trip from Germany to Sydney, Australia, some used their websites to promote their bands...and the feedback was just unbelievable!

That's when the idea was born to give away what you now know as Jimdo. Simply put - Pages to the People!
