Hamburg July 7, 2016 - Jimdo, the global do-it-yourself website builder, announced today that all of its templates are now fully responsive. This product update gives all Jimdo websites a consistent look and feel on every device, from smartphones to tablets to desktops.
“From day one, we wanted to create an easy-to-use website builder that would help anyone build an amazing website, and have fun doing so,” said Jimdo’s co-founder Fridtjof Detzner. “With mobile usage on the rise, fully-responsive templates make sense. This is a huge step to help our users be more successful online, no matter what device their customers are using. It’s important for us to deliver a product that responds to the latest technical developments and internet trends, and that’s ultimately easy for our customers to use.”
Every single Jimdo template is now responsive, from “Amsterdam” to “Zurich.” Responsive Jimdo templates automatically adjust all website elements to the resolution of computer screens, smartphones, or tablets. The update is not only great for a website’s design; it will also improve search engine rankings.
Existing owners of Jimdo’s 15 million websites can easily update their templates to the responsive versions. New customers will automatically start with responsive websites.
As mobile internet usage increases, website owners are under increasing pressure to offer a consistent website experience, regardless of the device that people are using. Over one-third (35,6%) of visitors to Jimdo websites arrive via a mobile device.
With the release of responsive templates, Jimdo continues its mobile innovation. Since 2011, the website builder has offered special mobile-optimized versions of Jimdo websites. Jimdo’s award-winning mobile app made it the first website builder to let users build and edit a complete website on-the-go. Jimdo released its iOS app in 2013, followed by its Android version in 2014.
