JimdoFree just got free-er.

JimdoFree ads are small now

Anyone can use Jimdo to create a website with no coding knowledge required. In addition to JimdoPro and JimdoBusiness, we have always offered JimdoFree, which makes Jimdo websites available to even more people. Jimdo has been used to create more than 8 million websites, many of them JimdoFree websites built by bloggers, charities, clubs, families, and people who simply want to share something with the world.

In exchange for a free website, we place a small white box on every JimdoFree site to help spread the word about Jimdo. We think a small white box gets in the way of your content, so we're making our JimdoFree advertisement even less noticeable.

Boxes are for squares.

Starting today, the box is being removed from all JimdoFree websites, and we're moving the Jimdo advertisement to the footer to make more room for your content. Even better, we've added a special version of the ad for websites with dark backgrounds so that it blends in.

We're really happy about this change. We know that the best way to spread the word about Jimdo is to do what's best for our customers, and getting rid of the white box is the right choice. If you like this change, tell a friend to try out Jimdo—your recommendation is the best advertising we could ask for.

If you ever want to go completely ad free, consider upgrading to JimdoPro or JimdoBusiness—but if you don't want to upgrade, that's alright too. JimdoFree will stay free forever.

New Feature: Improved XML Sitemap

Organized bookshelf

We love to see all of the sites that you make with Jimdo, and we're even more excited when we see Jimdo sites ranking well in search results. Our built-in Search Engine Optimization (SEO) tools offer you everything you need to attract search engines like Google and Bing.

Today, we've added improved XML sitemaps to all Jimdo sites, making it even easier to get your site to rank well in search results.

What is an XML sitemap?

sitemap (sometimes site map) is a list of the accessible pages on your website. An XML sitemap is used to tell search engines what pages are on your site, how they are organized, which pages are most important, and how often each page is updated.

Submitting a sitemap to the major search engines is an important step in optimizing your site for search. Providing a list of your pages isn't a guarantee that they will all be shown in search results, but it definitely increases the chances.

Submit and succeed.

Your sitemap can be found at yoursite.jimdo.com/sitemap.xml. Visit Google Webmaster Tools and Bing Webmaster Tools to submit your XML sitemap to Google and Bing.

JimdoPro and JimdoBusiness customers can also include hidden pages in the XML sitemap. You can activate this feature by logging in to your site and clicking Settings > Website > XML Sitemap.
