Blog Display

Use the Blog Display element to put a blog on a specific page or pages of your website.

About the Jimdo Blog Feature

The Jimdo Blog consists of two parts:

  1. The Blog Module manages writing and editing of the blog posts.
  2. The Blog Display element is used to integrate your blog posts into your JimdoPage.

If you haven't written any blog posts yet, first go to the Blog Module and write a post.

The Blog Display Element

By placing the Blog Display element, you decide where and how your blog should be displayed on your page. If you log into your JimdoPage and add a new Blog Display element, you'll see a window like the image on the right. Place the element wherever you'd like to display your blog posts.

You'll find any essential piece of the Blog Display element on our image to the right.

To get more information about an element, just scroll down this page to read the descriptions.

Insert and Set Up the Blog Display Element

Decide where your blog posts should be displayed. Simply choose one of your pages and add a new element.

Pick the Blog Display element and you'll see your first posts.

Number

Set the maximum number of blog posts visible at one time. If you have written five blog posts and set the number to four, you won't see your first blog post -- the oldest posts remain hidden. If you like to display all posts, just write "all" into the field.

Categories

Categories are basically tags - they allow you to tag each post with a specific category and pick which categories to display. Click inside the "categories" field and you'll see all available categories. Choose one or more categories so that you can display only blog posts that belong to these categories.

If you would like to assign new categories, use the Blog Module. To show all blog posts just type "all" into the field.

Teaser Length

Using the Teaser Length setting, you can set the maximum number of blog elements displayed. If your blog post contains two "Text" elements, you'll only see the first one if you set Teaser Length to 1. Use this option to give readers a short preview of you posts.

Teaser

The display option "Teaser" shows only a preview of you blog posts. Determine the amount of preview content with Teaser Length.

Posts

This display option will show the whole blog post as a preview (instead of a teaser).

Comments

Comments shows the number of comments entered by your viewers. Comments are not displayed in the Blog Display element - they only appear in the original blog post.
