RSS Feed

It is possible to integrate RSS (Really Simple Syndication) and ATOM (Atom Publishing Protocol) feeds in your Jimdo page. To read these feeds, people use feed "readers" or "aggregators". The website owner supplies a link to his RSS feed and users subscribe to it, so they can follow it with their feed reader and see if there's any new content since the last time they checked.

To add the RSS element to your page, simply click on the + symbol and choose the RSS Feed element from the element toolsbar that pops up.

  • URL of feed: Paste the link to your RSS or ATOM feed here (the feed type is recognized automatically).
  • Number of Posts: Choose the amount of articles that you want to be displayed at the same time (to display every article, enter 0).
  • Display title: Choose whether or not the articles' titles should be displayed.
  • Show description: Choose whether or not the articles' descriptions should be displayed.
  • Display date: Choose whether or not the articles' dates should be displayed.

Don't forget to click the Save button to make your changes visible to everyone.

Known Issues

If you're trying to display an RSS feed on your Jimdo page and it's not working, this may be one reason why you're encountering difficulties:

Usually we distinguish between compressed and uncompressed RSS feeds.

For uncompressed feeds, you can generally use all the options of the Jimdo RSS Feed element ("Display title," "Display date," "Show description," and "Number of Posts"). For compressed feeds, there can be some issues which result in, for example, only being able to show the title of the RSS feed, but not the chosen number of articles. Unfortunately, there is no way to determine which kind of RSS feed you are using.

At this time, a solution for using compressed RSS feeds is not within the scope of our development, but we are working on an alternative option for embedding compressed RSS feeds.
