Write a New Post
Using the "Write a new post" button leads you to a new page containing only the title element.
Set the known settings like comments, status, date und title first.
Next to the title you can assign categories now.
Categories
Use categories to create and assign topics to your posts. Otherwise all posts will be displayed in the same blog on your website. You can use any word as category and assign as much categories to a post as you want, just make a space between the words. In this field you can assign a category to your post. Later, on your website you can decide which categories should be shown up in your blog. The categories will be shown below the title of you post.
Why to use categories
They might be really helpful, if you're writing about more than one theme and you don't want to mix them all together later on your website. For example: If you create posts about different trips around the world, it make sense to separate them using categories. So... later on your website you can create one separate blog for each trip or country you've visited. Without categories every public post will be shown on your page in the same blog.
Edit a post
This is really simple. Just add elements like pictures, text, video etc. below the title of your post. It works the same way you already created your JimdoPage.
Trackbacks/Pingbacks
definition trackback
A trackback is something like a reference. Trackbacks are used to link blogpost of different persons to give more background information or to discuss with a bigger community. If you sent a trackback, you ask another person to create a link to your blogpost.
example for the use of trackbacks
Assuming you create a blogpost. Another internet user reads your post, became interested in the topic and creates a post about the same topic in his own blog. Now he want you to link against his post, because his is associated with yours and offers more information about the topic. So he sent you a trackback to ask you if you could link your post to his.
why to use trackbacks?
If you accept the trackback of the other internet user you'll get a link below your blogpost to the other post. In this way other people can understand that someone else make a reference to your post and continue reading there.
the userinterface
The red star marks an unconfirmed trackback. You'll find two buttons on the right side. Press "confirm" to accept the trackback and "delete" to decline and delete the trackback.
Once confirmed, trackbacks will be marked green.
Every trackback shows you the title of the post it came from. Press the blue link to get directly to the post the trackback came from. Below the title, you'll see the receive date of the trackback.
definition pingback
In opposition to trackback, pingbacks are only used to notify other bloggers that you link to their posts.
While trackbacks ask to create a link to your post, pingbacks notify the other person that you crated a link to their post.
