Use Forms to Activate Your Website Visitors
In today's internet, social is the name of the game. The key to keeping visitors interested in your website and coming back is to interact with them - with new content, blog posts, social media links - and forms! Yes, forms are a great way to make it easy for users to contact you and more.

The Basics
When you sign up for a new JimdoFree page, a basic contact form is already there.
Click on Contact in the top navigation and you'll see something like this:
If you're new to this, what you're probably wondering is - what's going on with the funny stop sign with a hand in it? Well, that's the Jimdo way of saying 'you're not done yet'!
Fill in the Contact Form Email Address
Here we've put an attention-grabbing blue box around the section that probably already caught your attention. It's a warning that even if you create a contact form, it's not finished until you set up an email address where all your fan mail will be sent.
So let's start there, by setting the contact email for the pre-inserted contact form. Make sure you're logged into your website, then click on the Contact Form element. It's underneath the text box, where the name and address boxes are. It looks something like this when you click on it:
Now enter the address where you want email to be sent when people fill out the form. This can be your main email address, or a special address set up just for the website. Don't worry about keeping it private: visitors to your website will not see the address, just the form.
Choose the Type of Standard Form
Jimdo offer six different types of 'standard forms'.If you just want a place for your website visitors to send you a message, these options should suit you just fine:
- Name, Email and Message
- A very simple contact form
- Name, Email, Phone and Message
- Gives you another way to get in touch with the person
- Name, Email, Company, Phone and Message
- Even more information - but- the more you ask for, the less likely people are to send you a message
- Complete Address and Message
- Useful perhaps for sending postal mailings to potential customers
- Ask a Question
- Gets visitors to your website active and engaged with you
- Reservation Form
- Specially made for hotels, bed and breakfasts and the like
If you're not sure which one is right for you, the best thing to do is try them out: first one and then the other. Remember, with Jimdo it's easy to create and delete elements.
The last thing you need to decide is whether or not to include a Captcha or not. We recommend choosing "yes", as it reduces spam considerably.
Get Creative
You can edit the text above the form itself to make it funny or serious - or just plain genius. It's a separate element, so you have full control of formatting, headers, and spacing.
If you've made it this far, maybe you'd like to get more creative? We recommend using a custom form maker like Wufoo, and integrating it into your JimdoPage using a widget.
(Here's a secret: we use it, too!)
