Setting up an Email Account
The Jimdo Mail Management
To open the Jimdo Mail Management just log onto your JimdoPage. Please be aware that under certain circumstances you might not be able to use your mail account at all or not right away: See the technical requirements for details. Let's Go:
On the right hand side there's the Editing Sidebar where you want to click onto Settings. That's where you'll find the new menu point "e-mail"
Now you're only few clicks away from your own email account!
If your domain settings are all correct and you are able to use the Jimdo email account, you will find yourself in the Menu of Email Management. In case any problems arise, we recommend checking out the technical requirements.
In case you just ordered JimdoPro: It takes about 1-3 (work) days until your new domain is active and you are able to set up email accounts.
Email Account or Redirection?
Owners of the traditional JimdoPro package can use the Mail Management to create an email account and three redirection addresses. A redirection address has, other than the mail account, no storage space of their own, ergo you will have to supply a destination account to which the emails are supposed to get redirected to. With such an email address you won't be able to send any emails. Whichever option makes more sense to you depends merely on your usage modality!
After setting up an account, you won't be able to install a redirection address with the same name. The name is therefore taken. If you need a mail account from which you can send emails and still redirect them to another address we're happy to explain to you here how to do so!
Email Account
At this step you can now pick your desired name (it has to consist of at least two letters!) and assign a password for your mail account. Afterwards just click onto "set up" or onto "cancel" if you've decided to not create an account after all.
Alias (redirection address)
Here as well you can choose the name of your address (it has to consist of at least one letter). Finally, insert a destination address to which all emails that get sent to your desired email address should be redirected to, click onto "set up" and you're done!
You want your alias address to be redirected to more destination adresses? No problem at all: Simply insert the addresses seperated by a semicolon and a blank (spacebar) into the line, like this:
destinationaddress1@mail.com; destinationaddress2@mail.com
Important Information
After successfully setting up your new account or redirection address, it can take up to 20 minutes until they are active. You can check wether or not your account is already activated by logging in on Webmail. Your user name is your whole email address, e.g. desiredname@yourdomain.com. Does the Login work properly? If so, your account is already active! Unfortunately it's a trial and error method for you to check on the status of activation of your redirection address.
You can use all letters and numbers as well as certain characters like "." and "_" in your address. However, most special characters (such as "å", "ä", "ç", "ß") are not allowed.
You can access your new email account via webmail or include it in a management program like Outlook or Thunderbird. More on how to get this to work and what you'll have to pay attention to can be found in our tutorial for setting up and handling your email account.
Are there any problems with the set up, your account is still not active even after the waiting period, or do you need further email accounts? Just send us an email to support@jimdo.com, we love to help you!
Managing Existing Accounts and Redirections
By going through Settings --> e-mail in the menu of the Jimdo Mail Management section you can see and manage existing accounts and redirection emails at any time.
In case you've forgotten the password of one of your email accounts you can set a new password in this section amongst other options. For already existing redirections you can reassign a new destination address by clicking on "edit".
To get rid of an account or a redirection you no longer have use for just click on "delete" to eliminate it permanently. Please note: when deleting mail accounts all their content and saved information gets lost, too.cn:创建您的电子邮件帐户
