A MailChimp Review: The Best Email Marketing Service

One of the most affordable ways to increase conversion, sales, and brand awareness for your business is email marketing. 40% of B2B marketers consider leads generated via email marketing more valuable than those generated from print, radio, and TV ads. If you don’t already spend time and resources  keeping potential new clients up to date, you may want to reconsider.

I took some time to look into the best business-focused email marketing tools. My goal was to find something customizable and  affordable, as well as something that integrates well with business websites, social media profiles, and email signatures. The clear winner was MailChimp, a DIY email marketing service that offers an intuitive and professional email marketing tool. MailChimp caters to all kinds of businesses by tailoring design, pricing, and built-in tools to individual business needs.

Here is my review of MailChimp, which focuses on the top five reasons you should choose them as your email marketing tool:

1. Contact Segmentation

MailChimp allows you to divide your contacts into groups. You can easily sort through your groups and send customized group-focused newsletters. For example, if you are using MailChimp to reach out to journalists, you may want to divide your list into groups depending on the field they cover. Customized emails, according to a report by MailChimp, lead to a higher open and click rate.

2. Email Tracking

MailChimp allows you to easily keep track of your newsletter campaigns and assess how successful they are. Being able to clearly identify how well each campaign is performing means being able to optimize future campaigns. MailChimp provides you with a detailed report for each of your campaigns, including open rates, click rates, successful locations, and social performance.

MailChimp also offers the option to A/B test your campaigns. It’s easy to assess the success rate of different subject lines, times of delivery, and sender names by testing two versions on two portions of your list. MailChimp then automatically sends the more successful version to the rest of your list.

3. Great Support and Online Resources

As a small business owner myself, I appreciate being able to quickly find solutions to my problems online without having to wait for someone else to solve my issue. MailChimp provide an extensive range of online resources. These include:

  • An extensive Support Center, including videos on how to get you started
  • Guides on email security and spam lawsuits
  • Marketing reports, including data on most successful campaign times
  • Direct links to email marketing experts to help you out with industry-focused designs
  • Live chat support

4. Flexible Pricing

MailChimp offers different plans to best suit your financial needs, including a free plan for up to 2,000 subscribers. Alternatively you can either sign up for a monthly plan (directly proportional to your number of subscribers) for frequent senders or a pay as you go plan for occasional senders.

Considering that for every $1 spent, $44.25 is the average return on email marketing investment, MailChimp’s flexible plans seem especially enticing.

5. Control

MailChimp gives you full control over your designs. Using preset templates equals loss of branding, but building something from scratch is time consuming. MailChimp incorporates an intuitive drag and drop editor that allows you to effortlessly build customized, branded newsletters.

Additionally, you can customize sign-up boxes for your website and integrate them into your social media channels. MailChimp works well with the most popular online services, including Salesforce, Eventbrite, Google, Twitter, Facebook, Shopify, Jimdo, and SurveyMonkey.

Final Thoughts

I hope you found this MailChimp review helpful. In my opinion, it is a powerful email marketing tool whether you are just starting out or you have already established your business. Compared to other email marketing tools, MailChimp manages to be straight-forward and manageable.

This has been my experience with email marketing. What has yours been?
