One is such a lonely number. That’s why today we’re thrilled to announce the release of one of our most requested features: Backgrounds Per Page. You can now easily create a unique background for each page of your Jimdo website.
What is Backgrounds Per Page? With the Backgrounds Per Page feature, you can set a different background for one or every page of your website. We’ve updated the Background editor so you can easily upload beautiful images, colors, videos, or captivating slideshows that are tailored specifically to the content of your individual pages.
Who knew one small change to our Background editor could make such a big difference to your website? Whether you stick to one background or fifty, our intuitive Background editor means you’re in complete control, and you can easily change your backgrounds in a matter of minutes.
What if you decide you want only one background for all of your pages? In the Background editor, select the image/color/slideshow you want and select ‘Use this background for all pages’.
Ready to Add Backgrounds Per Page to Your Website? The good news is Backgrounds Per Page is already enabled on your Background editor. Simply follow the steps below to get started:
1. Open the Backgrounds FeatureClick on the Style button in the Site Admin, then select the Background tab and click the plus button.
You’ll then be able to choose the style of background you want: photo, slideshow, video, or color.
2. Choose a BackgroundWith the Background tab still open, click on the page from your Navigation that you want to update.
The Template Preview Mode automatically appears when you choose a new background. This allows you to immediately see how the background will look.
The first background is set as a default for the background for all pages, but every following background added to the Background editor can be set as an individual background page.
3. Save Your SettingsIf you’re happy with the preview of your background, select Save and your page will now have a beautiful new background.
What if you want to set one video as a background for every page of your website? The button ‘Use this background for all pages’ is not supported for video with Backgrounds Per Page. Instead, you simply need to set the video as a background for every page of your website.
How to Choose the Perfect Background ImageBackground images create and set the tone of your website. It probably comes as no surprise then that one of the key ingredients to creating a beautiful background is choosing striking images. Adding several stunning background images can transform your website into an exciting and engaging experience. Since it’s the first impression users have of your site, you should select the best image that communicates to your users what your site is about or what you do.
When choosing background images for your website, there is a lot to think about, like placement, dimension, and file size. You can find all the information you need on how to optimize images on your website in our Support Center.
Choose images that are of high resolution (2000 pixels wide is best) and make sure those images are in landscape mode, not in portrait mode.
