If your website is intended for new customers, there&#8217;s not a big rush. If your website is mainly for existing customers, you should limit it to a week or a few days. At that time you\u2019ll probably be busy answering questions from customers that normally go to your site who will start contacting you on other channels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can often go online with a minimal version of your website. If the most important pages are ready for visitors, you can go ahead and publish them. You can continue working on your other pages in the background, at your own pace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Most importantly, stick to the deadline you\u2019ve set on your Under Construction page. If you say that the website will be available again on a specific date, then that should be the case. As an entrepreneur, it <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jimdo.com/blog\/build-a-website-customers-will-trust\/\">builds trust<\/a> if you keep your promises. You also show that you\u2019re organized, have a schedule, and stick to it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_happens_to_your_SEO_while_your_site_is_offline\"><\/span>What happens to your SEO while your site is offline?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A website that\u2019s offline isn\u2019t a good search result. Google doesn&#8217;t like to show people bad results because they don\u2019t give searchers the information they need. That\u2019s also why it\u2019s a good idea not to keep your website offline for too long. Your site probably won\u2019t disappear immediately, but it may drop in search rankings.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Every time a search engine comes across your website and sees that your website is offline, it confirms to Google that it shouldn\u2019t send visitors there. If you\u2019re just planning a weekend project, chances are good that search engine crawlers won\u2019t visit your site in that time, and won\u2019t notice that you\u2019re offline. If you\u2019re planning a longer hiatus, it could start to temporarily impact your ranking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So the next time your site is searched, it\u2019s best if your website is ready again. Preferably with some new information. Then the search results will be updated again and you might even rank higher than before. Google likes fresh content on websites.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>If your site is brand new, you don\u2019t have anything to worry about.<\/strong> It takes a while for Google to index new websites, so your site likely hasn\u2019t appeared in any search results yet. You haven\u2019t really built up any SEO juice yet, so you don\u2019t have any to lose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can also help Google to show your website is ready for visitors again by reporting it via <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jimdo.com/blog\/how-to-get-google-to-notice-your-website\/\">Google Search Console<\/a>.
